Central University of Punjab has announced admission notification for students interested in enrolling for a number of academic programs for the session 2011-2012. Admission into various courses will be through an All India Entrance Test that will be held in the month of July.
Academic programs into which students can seek admission include Post Graduate Programs, M.Pharma – Ph.D Integrated Program, M.Phil- Ph.D Integrated Programs, and LL.M- Ph.D Integrated Program.
Students can seek admission into the following branches of the said programs.
Post Graduate Programs include –M.Sc in Development Economics, Biosciences, Chemical Sciences, Environmental Science & Technology, Comparative Literature, and M.Sc in South & Central Asian Studies.
M.Phil Ph.D Integrated Programs include – Development Economics, Comparative Literature, South and Central Asian Studies, Environmental Science & Technology, and Biosciences.
Students can opt for the following subject in M.Pharma- Ph.D Integrated Program – Pharmaceutical Sciences
LL.M- Ph.D Integrated Program into which students can seek admission into includes Environmental Law.
Entrance Test will be held in the following centers across India – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Shimla, Lucknow, Bathinda, Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, Jammu, Nagpur, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar, Mumbai, Noida, and Hyderabad.
Admission for candidates belonging to PWD/OBC/ST/SC will be according to the Central Government norms.
Students who have appeared for their final year examination are also eligible to apply for the test provided they submit the result prior to the interview. A failure to do so will lead to cancellation of candidature.

The examination date is July 16th 2011. Last date for submitting application form with testimonials is July 7th 2011.
Pattern of Examination for Integrated Ph.D programs (M.Phil, M.Pharma, LL.M)
The question paper will have MCQ or Multiple Choice Questions. There will be 7 sections- A, B, C, D, E, F, and G.
Section A will have questions dealing with current affairs, mental ability test, and general science, interactive English, and reasoning.
Section A will have 40 multiple choice questions. Remaining sections will have 60 Multiple Choice Questions in each.
Section B, C, D, E, F and G will have Multiple Choice Questions dealing with separate subjects.
Section B will have questions on Bioscience & Environmental Science and Technology
Section C will have questions on Medicinal Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences
Section D will have questions on South & Central Asian Studies
Multiple Choice Questions in Section E will be on Comparative Literature.
MCQ in Section F will be based on Environmental Law
MCQ on Development Economics will be covered in Section G.
M.Sc Program Examination Pattern
The duration of the Entrance Examination is 90 minutes. Similarly, students seeking admission into M.Sc programs will be required to answer Multiple Choice Questions divided into 6 sections (M, H, I, J, K & L), each section dealing with a particular subject.
Section M will be common for all and will carry 40 MCQs. Other sections (H to L) will have 60 Multiple Choice Questions in each section.
For examination in all subjects, the following marking system will be adopted. 1 mark will be awarded for correct answers, 0 marks for not attempting a question and ¼ will be deducted for wrong answer.
