Ch. Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCS HAU)

The University was named after India’s seventh Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. Earlier the university was part of the Punjab Agricultural University which became an autonomous institution in 1966 with the division of Punjab and Haryana.

CCS HAU is one of Asia's major agricultural universities, and it has contributed significantly to Green Revolution and White Revolution in India. In the past, the University has developed several varieties of crops, such as wheat, rice, millets, and cash crops like cotton, sugarcane, oil seeds etc.

Academic Programs in CCS HAU

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture:
Bachelor of Science in Agriculture is a course in Bachelor of Science ( B.Sc.). It is a full time course of 4 years duration. This being a regular course, is conducted in the campus of the University.

Eligibility for this course is an Intermediate (10+2)in science (with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics).

This course includes subjects like, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Agricultural Economics, Extension education, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science, Food Technology, Animal Husbandry etc.

Bachelor of Science in Home Science
Bachelor of Science in Home Science is course in Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). It is a full time course of 3 years duration. This being a regular course, is conducted in the campus of the University.

The minimum eligibility for this course is an intermediate (10+2) in science.
This course includes subjects like, Food & Nutrition, Textiles & Clothing, Human Development, Community Services & Welfare, Child Welfare, Resource Management etc.


Master of Science in Agriculture
Master of Science in Agriculture is course in Master of Science (M.Sc.). It is a full time course of 2 years duration. This being a regular course, is conducted in the campus of the University.

The eligibility criteria for this course is Bachelors in Agriculture.
This course includes subjects like, forestry, farming, Agricultural Economics, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science and Food Technology.

Master of Science in Forestry
Master of Science in Forestry is a course in Master of Science (M.Sc). It is a full time course of 2 years duration. This being a regular course, is conducted in the campus of the University.

The eligibility for this course is Bachelors in Agriculture. This course includes subjects like forestry, farming, Agricultural Economics, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science and Food Technology.

Master of Science in Home Science
Master of Science in Home Science is a course in Master of Science ( M.Sc.). It is a full time course of 2 years duration. This being a regular course, is conducted in the campus of the University.

The minimum eligibility for the course is a B.Sc. in Home Science or any equivalent science degree. The course offers the opportunity to specialize in Food and Nutrition, Resource Management, Human Development, Fabric and Apparel Science and Communication and Extension.

Master of Science in Botany
Master of Science in Botany is a course in Master of Science ( M.Sc.). It is a full time course of 2 years duration. This being a regular course, is conducted in the campus of the University.

The minimum eligibility for the course is graduation degree in science. Botany is the scientific study of plant life. Subjects studied under this degree are Biology, Biodiversity, Chemistry, Mathematics & Statistics, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Plant Physiology, Ecology, Genetics etc.

Master of Science in Zoology
Master of Science in Zoology is a course in Master of Science ( M.Sc.). It is a full time course of 2 years duration. This being a regular course, is conducted in the campus of the University.

The eligibility for the course is an undergraduate degree in the stream of science. Zoology is scientific study of the structure, function, behavior, and evolution of animals.

This course includes subjects like, Structure & Functions of Invertebrates, Quantitative Biology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Cell Biology, Genetics, Animal Physiology, Biomolecules, Structural Biology, Environmental Physiology, Biosystematics, Taxonomy & Evolution, Genes & Differentiation, Animal Behaviour, Endocrinology etc.

Master of Science in Biotechnology
The minimum eligibility for this course is a B.Sc. Biotechnology or equivalent with subjects such as physics, chemistry, biotechnology and mathematics.
Biotechnology applies technological methods to biological systems and living organisms to customize products and processes. The course includes subjects like, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, Immunology, Genetic Engineering, Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Microbiology etc.

Master of Veterinary Science (MVSc) Animal Biotechnology
The degree awarded on completion of course is awarded M.V.Sc. degree in Animal Biotechnology. Candidates admitted to the programme are eligible for award of fellowship under the Department of Biotechnology Human Resource Development Project.
The course covers basic, fundamental and specialized areas related to Animal biotechnology, such as, Principles of Biotechnology & Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Cell cloning & hybridization, Tissue Culture Technology etc.
The minimum eligibility for this course is Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & A.H.) recognized by Veterinary Council of India with at least 50% marks or 5.00/10.0 OGP or equivalent grades from a recognized University.Admissions are through the Combined Entrance Examination MSc Agriculture & MVSc Biotechnology.
