English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) was earlier known as Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL). In order to enhance he standards of the teaching of English and foreign languages in the India, the Central Government established the CIEFL. The University was established in the year 1958. It is recognized and funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
The University has three campuses, the main campus being in Hyderabad, and the other two in Lucknow and Shillong. Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) provides education in the areas of English and foreign languages and their literature. The University also undertakes the charge of organization research, training teachers, production of teaching materials, and extension services, to improvise the standards of the teaching of English and Foreign Languages in India. The University offers M.Phil and Ph.D. courses in numerous disciplines such as, Linguistics, Literature, Cultural Studies, European Studies and Language Studies.
