Penang Medical College
- Penang Medical College (PMC) was founded in 1996 and works in conjunction with two Irish medical colleges, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and University College Dublin (UCD). Students at the Malaysian college undergo two and a half years of pre-clinical training at either of these Irish universities, so they have a thorough grounding in biomedical sciences. After this they return to PMC where they undergo the rest of their degree. They remain as registered students of either RCSI or UCD, however. The clinical training at PMC takes place on campus as well as at Penang General Hospital and the Seberang Jaya Hospital. Departments in the school include Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, General Practice, Public Health and Epidemiology, and Anesthesia. Students who complete degree courses at PMC are awarded with degrees of the National University of Ireland as well as the Licentiates of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
